Meet the Staff
Susan Jung, M.Ed., Ed.S. Licensed Professional Counselor EAGALA Certified
Susan has been an elementary school counselor for 36 years. After graduating from the University of Florida, she moved to Texas and was very active in the counseling organizations. Now, she is a licensed professional counselor in Georgia. Susan began riding at the age of four and has a passion for children and horses. She is a certified riding instructor for the Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders and Exhibitors Association and has served as a Walking Horse judge for eight years. Finding EAGALA eight years ago was the “perfect fit” for combining counseling skills and the presence of horses in her life and career goals. Susan is married to Jim, who has enabled her horse habit, and been her greatest supporter in starting Winning Strides. They have two children and four grandchildren.
Dixie Cowles, M.Ed. Equine Specialist EAGALA Certified
After 30 years teaching elementary and middle school, Dixie is enjoying retirement and spending more time with the horses. She began riding with her father throughout the phosphate mines of central Florida. She was introduced to saddle seat when the family moved to Chicago. Another riding change came when she went off to college where she rode hunt seat. She has come full circle and is enjoying the classic seat and riding the Tennessee Walking Horses at Double Diamond Stables. When she is not working with the EAGALA program at Winning Strides she exercises horses for a trainer in the area
