Winning Strides impacts the lives of young people and adults by providing a learning environment with educational/therapeutic
programs that enhance life skills through contact with horses.
Winning Strides provides experiential mental health services, as well as growth and learning groups. The focus of equine assisted educational and therapeutic services is not riding or horsemanship. In fact, 100% of the activities take place on the ground. Activities involving horses require individuals and groups to apply certain skills in non-verbal communication, assertiveness, creative thinking, and problem-solving. Equine assisted psychotherapy (EAP) can be done with children, adolescents, families and groups. With EAP, sessions are designed to meet the unique needs of the client using one or more horses to accomplish a specific goal. Clients’ reactions to the horses, and the horse’s reaction to the clients can help demonstrate obstacles in relationships, thought patterns, and goal setting. Participants often discover novel and more effective solutions to the challenges they face in life.

Supervision is available for qualified Licensed Professional Counselor applicants. Sessions are held twice a month. Supervision fees are $50 per hour for group supervision and $75 per hour for individual supervision. Please call Susan Jung at 770-776-8446 for more information.
Services

middle school children. Activities follow the Eagala model, utilizing a
mental health professional and an equine specialist as a team.
